Sovereignosis asks how people can become genuinely sovereign—individually and collectively—without rebuilding the coercion, waste, and concentrated control of the systems they want to leave behind.
The abundance journey
Sovereignty is a practice, not a posture.
To be sovereign is not to pretend that nobody else exists. It is to have meaningful control over the conditions of your life, to participate in the decisions that affect you, and to accept the obligations that make shared freedom possible.
Sovereignosis joins sovereign with gnosis: knowledge that becomes capable self-direction.
What does sovereignty require?
Scarcity is sometimes physical. Scarcity can also be arranged.
Resources are finite, timing matters, and trade-offs are real. But a society can also manufacture scarcity through enclosure, hoarding, monopoly, financial gatekeeping, planned obsolescence, or rules that keep useful capacity inaccessible.
The target is not “all limits.” The target is the confusion of artificial limits with natural ones.
Abundance means usable capacity.
The Sun supplies enormous energy, but sunlight is not automatically food, shelter, transport, or freedom. Abundance exists only when energy can be converted, delivered, stored, maintained, and made accessible.
That is why Sovereignosis treats energy as a foundation—not as a complete theory of value.
Ergon is a ledger, not a magic coin.
Ergon (Ɛ) is the proposed unit of an Energy Exchange. The defensible version is not a single universal price stamped onto every object. It is a transparent, multi-layer accounting instrument that records the physical and social conditions behind useful production.
The original C/T/M formula—Conversion + Transportation + Maintenance—is the spine. The research adds quality, ecology, equity, and governance.
Count the whole life of a thing.
Conversion
Extraction, transformation, assembly, embodied energy, and the material inputs required to make something useful.
Transportation
Movement across distance and time, including transmission losses, congestion, storage, and the location of demand.
Maintenance
Repair, operation, upgrades, replacement, reliability, end-of-life handling, and the skills needed to keep it working.
Build the alternative where people can inspect it.
A parallel transition does not seize the existing world and hope the replacement behaves. It starts with bounded experiments that people can join voluntarily, compare against ordinary practice, audit, criticize, and leave.
The first experiment should be boring in the best way: one community solar or microgrid project, one public ledger, one published C/T/M methodology, and a comparison between projected and actual results.
Shared infrastructure needs shared power.
The Solar Commonwealth is a proposed network of sovereign people, not a conventional nation-state. Its principles are solar infrastructure, energy equity, voluntary participation, radical transparency, and continuous improvement.
But voluntary participation alone is not governance. A real commonwealth needs clear boundaries, user-made rules, monitoring, accessible dispute resolution, graduated accountability, and nested authority that protects local autonomy without making coordination impossible.
Do not believe this. Test it.
Sovereignosis is strongest as a falsifiable proposal: an attempt to connect physical accounting, community ownership, democratic governance, and human freedom without pretending that any one of them solves the others.
Study the sources. Challenge the assumptions. Build a small instrument. Publish the failures. If the system cannot survive measurement and dissent, it has not produced sovereignty—it has produced mythology.
Five functions. No single one is enough.
The SMK maps social functions to the productive overlap of forces that can also pull against each other. High overlap is not forced sameness; dissent, uncertainty, and local autonomy are part of a healthy system.
What the evidence supports—and what it refuses to let us pretend.
The adjacent literature strengthens Sovereignosis when it is used as a constraint system. It does not validate the whole project. That is useful: a theory that cannot be corrected is only a belief with better typography.
Energy is foundational
IPCC, DOE/NREL, EROI research, and energy-systems analysis all support treating energy, infrastructure, and material throughput as central conditions of economic life.
Abundance is infrastructural
Storage, transmission, flexibility, reliability, operations, recycling, and critical minerals determine whether generation becomes usable service. The grid is not an afterthought.
Equity is not decoration
IPCC and DOE materials emphasize distributional justice, procedural participation, community voice, consumer protections, and the unequal burdens inherited from existing energy systems.
Commons need rules
Elinor Ostrom’s work supports polycentric, user-governed commons—but only with boundaries, monitoring, conflict resolution, graduated sanctions, and recognition of the right to organize.

The next serious move is not another grand declaration. It is a bounded project that publishes its books and invites people to find the failure.
